Up north!!

Venlo, Kessel, Aldeneik/Maaseik

The Limburgs Museum in Venlo is the provincial museum for Archaeology in Limburg. All the archaeological richness of our region can be seen here. From Paleolithic times to Medieval life is shown here. This medieval life is also visible in the castle of Kessel called the Keverberg. After a nice lunch and lecture about the history of this site you can visit it or relax on the borders of the river Meuse with a nice drink. On our way back to Maastricht we will visit the church of Aldeneik and the historical town of Maaseik, hometown of the famous medieval painter Jan van Eijck. In the regional museum the archaeological collection gives a good impression of everyday life along the river Meuse. And in the adjacent museum the Old Pharmacy you can revive the times of the 19th century in an unique and original way.
